How long with the session last? A session will last between 50 and 60 minutes and are normally taken weekly for maximum benefit. How much will the session cost? For an individual £50 per session and for a couple £60 per session How many sessions will be needed? This would depend on the depth of the issue and your engagement with the process and would not be possible to define in advance. Short term work is generally 6 sessions with an option to continue after that - although a couple of sessions may be useful, full benefit will be received through completing the contract. Many clients feel a marked improvement after 6 sessions and may decide to stop there and see how things go. Some return after a while for a ‘top up’ but many have developed healthier and more positive thought patterns. Relapse prevention is part of our work, giving you the tools to recognise and avoid the pitfalls that affected you before. How confidential are the sessions? As a Senior Accredited member of BACP, I abide by their code of ethics. Everything discussed during our sessions is confidential but, if there was an issue of safety to yourself or others, for example, in case of severe harm to yourself or harm to others, then this could be broken. However, I would only do so in case of severity. Is my issue within your expertise? Our initial session would be an assessment – of your needs and expectations and also of what I can offer to you. I do have very wide experience of helping clients in many settings with a large range of presenting issues but if I felt that I would not be able to help, I would signpost you. How much will I be expected to disclose? The sessions will be at your pace, you will be ‘in charge’ at all times. You will decide what you want to talk about and how deeply you want to go.
